Blue Whale Offers Safer Alternative For Over 10 Million Smokeless Tobacco Users

New alternative chewing tobacco comes with big, bold taste, and offers same kicks as smokeless tobacco—without the health risks

King of Prussia, PA - A new smokeless tobacco alternative offering four bold flavors and the same kick as chewing tobacco has just been introduced to appeal to the country's over 10 million smokeless tobacco users, many of whom are concerned about the health risks of chewing tobacco. Blue Whale is made from a proprietary blend of imported teas, which avoids the 28 carcinogens associated with tobacco, but still delivers the same kick of chew or dip. The secret is a botanical derivative of nicotine called ‘NicoDip', the ‘secret sauce' that gives users the same buzz they seek from tobacco.

Nationwide, smokeless tobacco is a hot product category, as tobacco users turn to nicotine alternatives due to smoking bans. Big Tobacco is spending millions of dollars to introduce a range of smokeless tobacco products that they suggest are safer than smoking and less obvious to use. The problem, however, is that these new smokeless products still contain 28 tobacco-associated carcinogens—which is no consolation to the nation's smokeless tobacco users, many of whom are concerned about the health consequences of their habit. In fact, a recent survey shows that more than 50% of smokeless tobacco users are concerned about health risks associated with chewing tobacco.

Blue Whale comes in four bold flavors—Straight, Wintergreen, Cool Mint, and Peach—in easy-to-carry 1.2 ounce cans, dispensed from a handsome countertop display that features the company's trademark picture of a blue whale. Retail margins on the new product range from $30 to $45 million.

Blue Whale is being supported by a $6 million advertising campaign, and has just been introduced in Texas through a retail agreement with 7-Eleven. The company is currently negotiating distribution agreements with retailers and tobacco wholesalers throughout the country.
