Healthnotes New Flexible Kiosk Platform Helps Grocers Optimize Interactive Shopper Marketing Program

Portland, OR - Healthnotes, the leader in interactive wellness-driven shopper marketing, recently announced an all-new kiosk platform for delivering its retail-proven "Fresh Ideas" program to shoppers. According to a recent study conducted by NCR Corporation, nearly 90 percent of shoppers said they'd use an in-store kiosk to print food and wine information and recipes. To help retailers meet this consumer need storewide, Healthnotes new interactive kiosks can be deployed throughout the store to provide seasonally relevant product information, wellness content, recipes, and promotions to shoppers where and when they need it.

The all-new Healthnotes kiosk platform is based on more than ten years' experience designing customer-facing technology and was developed with Olea, a leading manufacturer of interactive self service kiosks. It has been designed from the ground up for maximum flexibility and reliability. The platform can be deployed as a free-standing pedestal (floor unit), a space-saving wall-mount or a convenient countertop unit, each featuring integrated thermal printing and best-in-class hardware from industry leaders IBM or NCR.

"This is the first kiosk specifically designed for grocery retailers that provides them with the flexibility they need in an ever-changing retail environment, while leveraging proven all-in-one kiosk hardware from industry leaders," stated Dr. Skye Lininger, Healthnotes president and CEO.

The platform can feature IBM AnyPlace or NCR EasyPoint Advantage kiosk hardware, depending on the retailer's preference. To make deployment easy, the kiosk is wireless- and Ethernet-ready, with an optional cellular networking card. Once on the Healthnotes LiveConnect™ network, retailers get the added benefits of 24/7 monitoring and management, ongoing updates to seasonal content and promotions, and on-demand analytics and reporting. The platform boasts an integrated 4.5" thermal printer from Star Micronics (with drop-in paper loading), CD-ROM drive, USB ports, and power supply in a single, self-contained enclosure. The sleek, consumer-tested design is available with five standard "Fresh Ideas" graphics packages (for produce, meat & seafood, wine, pharmacy, and nutrition), or custom graphics can be created.

"IBM is about collaboration and innovation, about working alongside Business Partners like Healthnotes and Olea to create and deliver solutions that help improve the way our clients and their clients connect, interact and transact daily business," said Norma Wolcott, Business Line Executive, IBM Self Service Solutions. "We are pleased to have the IBM AnyPlace Kiosk as one of the deployment platforms for the Healthnotes 'Fresh Ideas' initiative. Its ultra-compact design and advanced wireless capability make it an ideal solution able to be deployed quickly and easily in almost any environment."

"We're proud to work with Healthnotes on the next generation of their kiosk platform. Our expertise in designing retail-hardened kiosks coupled with Healthnotes experience in wellness marketing has culminated in a unique, compelling we design that believe will lead to higher usage by consumers and thus bring even more benefits to grocery retailers," stated Frank Olea, vice president of Olea Inc.
