Supermarket News And New Hope Natural Media Team To Launch Healthy Foods Exposition

New York NY - Penton's Supermarket News, the leading information source for the $566B U.S. food retailing sector, and New Hope Natural Media, a leading information provider to the natural, organic and healthy products industry, recently announced the launch of the Healthy Foods International Exposition and Conference, slated to take place June 18-19, 2008 in Dallas. The event will provide a business platform for exchange of information about "healthier-for-you" foods and bring together grocery and supermarket executives, buyers and managers with manufacturers, suppliers and distributors from this rapidly growing product segment.

In 2006, the mass market saw double digit growth of natural products sales at 10.5%, according to The Natural Foods Merchandiser's market overview. Increasingly, supermarket and mass market chains are offering and aggressively marketing a wide array of healthy, natural and organic products for consumers.

The event marks the first major partnership between Supermarket News, the award-winning, nationally circulated weekly trade magazine for the food distribution industry, and New Hope Natural Media, which produces the two largest and longest-running natural and organic products tradeshows.

"With sales of healthier products rising dramatically, and consumer attitudes indicating a desire for healthier food choices, our organizations are uniquely positioned to provide a new marketplace specifically designed for interchange between the supermarket and healthy products industries," said Dan Bagan, senior vice president of the Food Retail Group for Penton Media, publisher of Supermarket News.

"For more than 25 years, New Hope Natural Media has been providing the highest quality information and data about natural and organic products, in addition to hosting the world's leading shows where ideas and expertise can be shared in person," said Alan Peterson, senior vice president of New Hope's Tradeshow Group. "We're excited to be working with Supermarket News to bring together qualified buyers, marketers and sellers of healthier products."

Healthy Foods International will feature conference sessions centered on exclusive research outlining consumer attitudes and buying triggers related to healthy foods and products. The research will be presented by the editors of the Nutrition Business Journal, a leading market research group for the food, personal care, dietary supplement and alternative health care industries.
