Redbird LED Completing LED Tube Lighting Retrofit For SuperMax Grocery Store In Puerto Rico

Atlanta, GA - Redbird LED, an Atlanta, GA firm that specializes in the design, manufacturing and distribution of energy efficient LED Tube Lighting for commercial buildings announced today that it had partnered with Energy Integrated Solutions on a full-store lighting retrofit for the SuperMax supermarket store located in San Juan. SuperMax is Puerto Rico's fastest-growing supermarket chain, currently with 11 stores with plans to open at least one new supermarket every year over the next five years, bringing the chain's network to more than 16.

SuperMax acquired the former Pueblo store last year and surrounding real estate in the Condado touristic area on Avenida De Diego in San Juan. "Absolutely, while we focus on our operations' excellence, our intentions are to continue to grow and we will evaluate every opportunity available, as was the case with Pueblo, where we had an opportunity to acquire three of their stores," Jose Revuelta, President of SuperMax explained.

The lighting in the supermarket was in need of updating and improvement. David Benavent, Managing Director at Energy Integrated Solutions (EIS), stated, "SuperMax decided to install the total LED retrofit to address the poor lighting in the store and to lower the high energy consumption. This is one of the largest, complete LED retrofits to date in a retail store in the USA. SuperMax chose to replace not only the ceiling lights, but all cooler, freezer, display case lighting and prep areas with the Redbird LED tube lighting solution distributed by EIS."

,p>The total lighting retrofit of the supermarket includes more than 1800 LED T8 Tube Replacements. The projected cost saving from the reduced energy consumption and cooling loads is more than $170,000/year. LED Tube Lights have a service life of more than 50,000 hours over which the total savings to SuperMax will be more than $1,000,000.
