BigY2GO And MyWebGrocer Make Online Grocery Shopping A Success

Colchester VT - Big Y Supermarkets based out of Springfield, Massachusetts launched their MyWebGrocer online grocery shopping application, BigY2GO, in November 2007. Since the launch of the program, the company has seen great success in customer retention, acquisition, and online sales.

With 94% of Americans shopping online, Big Y Supermarkets knew the importance of having an online channel and the value it would bring its customers and organization. BigY2GO offers their customer's easy and efficient grocery shopping that enables Big Y to stay ahead of their competition and add an important value added service to its customer base.

BigY2GO is currently running at the Cooley Street Market. User's simply log on at BigY.com and start shopping, online orders are sent to the store's handheld and employees then go through the store with their BigY2GO shopping carts and fill the orders. The orders are then ready for pick up leaving the user with a stress free grocery shopping experience.

Since November, the BigY2GO program has seen a higher than expected order volume, consistent growth and a very large average basket size. Phill Schneider, Vice President of Sales for Big Y comments, "Offering an online shopping service to a customer that cannot get it elsewhere or is of higher quality than the competition allows us to retain and acquire more customers for Big Y. In today's competitive market, this is profitable and an invaluable addition to our offering."

"Big Y is a premier retail operator and their success with our Online Shopping tools is not a surprise. They have taken a great tool and built a terrific fulfillment and customer service organization around it. This combination insures the programs success for many years to come," said Curt Alpeter, Sr. Vice President of Sales for MyWebGrocer.

After seeing the online grocery shopping success in their Cooley Street Market store, Big Y is already in preparations to launch the application in numerous more stores.
