Centiv Services, Inc. Installs Canon ImagePRESS Digital Presses And Automated Workflow Solution

Burlington, NJ - Canon Business Solutions, Inc., a subsidiary of Canon U.S.A. and leading provider of document imaging and office solutions, recently announced that Centiv Services, Inc., has installed two imagePRESS C7000VP digital presses and deployed complementary software and hardware from the Canon imagePRESS Workflow Solutions program to better serve Centiv customers' growing needs for high quality images and customized promotional materials.

Centiv Services is a value-added marketing services firm based in Chicago that helps brand companies manage their communications through printed materials at the point of decision for the consumer, such as grocery stores, restaurants and bars throughout the Mid-West. Working with Canon Business Solutions, Centiv had two imagePRESS C7000VP digital presses, along with two imagePRESS Server A3000 print servers, installed to improve the quality and turnaround time for the many unique print projects that Centiv handles for its clients.

"We worked closely with Canon Business Solutions and its Production Print Specialist to target the appropriate imagePRESS solution to meet the diverse needs and requirements of our roster of high-profile clients," said Adam Meier, chief financial officer, Centiv Services Inc. "The imagePRESS C7000VP is allowing us to handle a greater variety of paper stocks than previously and produce more consistent quality materials in a shorter amount of time. We expect the imagePRESS to increase and expand opportunities in the marketplace for our services and offerings."

In addition to the digital presses, Canon worked with Centiv to deliver a solution to enhance the print provider's digital printing initiatives, automate the submission of customer jobs and streamline the production and finishing processes. Rather than replacing the existing workflow, Centiv installed OASymbio from Objective Advantage to integrate with their Web-to-print solutions and a Duplo DC-645 Slitter/Cutter/Creaser finisher.

The OA Symbio JDF integration enables customer jobs to be sent directly to the Canon imagePRESS C7000VP for automated production, while also streamlining the finishing process by sending the finishing requirements to the Duplo DC-645's JDF connector. Using this solution, the operator simply selects the job, inserts the sheets and hits the start button. This lights-out automated production workflow minimizes setup and throughput time for jobs, eliminates or automates redundant tasks, and increases Centiv's efficiency and productivity.

"Canon worked with us as a true partner to understand our workflow, integrate into our systems and deliver a solution right for our business," added Meier.

The Canon imagePRESS C7000VP, which began shipping in June 2007, represents the largest single engine R&D investment in Canon's history. Capable of printing images with a level of quality that rivals offset printing, the imagePRESS C7000VP maintains engine speed regardless of media weight, including print speeds of 70ppm on media up to 110 lb. cover. In its first six months of shipping in 2007, the imagePRESS C7000VP captured 36 percent of the production print market for color engines in the 70-90ppm segment for the entire 2007 calendar year, according to Gartner Dataquesti.
