Corporate Identity Makeovers Spur Branding And Store Design At Globalshop 2005

ROSWELL, Ga. – Are we going to see an increase in mergers like the highly publicized mating of Kmart and Sears? If 2005 ushers in another wave of mergers, retailers will be busy re-branding and re-positioning themselves to consumers.

"Mergers are good for the store design and branding fields," said Doug Hope Group Vice President of VNU Expositions and Show Director of GlobalShop. "They stimulate the need for image creation, brand positioning and enhancements."

GlobalShop, the world's largest annual store design and in-store marketing trade show, helps provide the insight and expertise to create the desired effect for newly merged companies.

In fact, this trend has already started with Federated Department Stores Inc. dropping the Burdines tag, as well as other familiar brand names, and keeping just Macy's and Bloomingdale's; and Best Buy branding their stores to the demographic of their location. From the merchandise they carry, to the store displays, to the music played over the speakers, these corporations are working hard to distinguish themselves with their own distinctive brands.

"Companies are thinking in a revolutionary, not evolutionary way, when it comes to retail development," said Mr. Hope. "One of the great things about Globalshop is literally hundreds of senior retail management professionals come together with a demand for new ideas. We help provide these new ideas so they can change their business, add to their customer base and increase sales."

Home Depot opened up a store with a white façade losing it's signature construction orange signage to appeal to a wider audience. Apple stores added a "Genius" bar for free advice, as well as offers workshops, celebrity guest speakers, and DJs spinning tunes on iPods.

Those solutions and many others will be echoed at GlobalShop 2005, as more than 25,000 professionals from all walks of the retail and brand marketing industries gather at the world's largest annual store design and in-store marketing event in Las Vegas, March 21-23.

Held at The Venetian - Sands Expo Convention Center, GlobalShop Las Vegas 2005 is the place to be for innovative products and ideas that are likely to be noticed by the retailing industry. With its acclaimed Fashion Show Las Vegas Shopping Center setting the gold standard for retail design and visual merchandising, Las Vegas, has been named the "Hottest Selling Destination" in the U.S. by Recommend Magazine.
