CT2020 is designed as a "suite" or group of applications that work together to automate the tracking and control of inventory at the retail level. The system is modular which allows the user to customize it to meet the specific needs of any individual operation. The design also allows for expansion of the system to keep pace with the organization's growth. Following are the CT2020 modules designed for inventory management.

In Store Receiving

CT2020 provides several methods of receiving Direct-Store Delivery (DSD) inventory:

  • EDI: This is a totally electronic means of receiving inventory. When the delivery arrives, the vendor plugs the DEX unit into the appropriate port and transfers an electronic invoice, or the receiver can pull up the NEX invoice which is already on the store's ISP, check the items, quantities and cost information against the stored invoice and compare the counts displayed on the hand held unit.
  • Vendor Scan: The store provides the vendor with a hand held unit which can be used to scan items and enter cost and quantity information prior to the receiving associate's involvement. After this information is transferred electronically to the store's ISP, the receiver can check the items, quantities and cost information via the RF unit by simply retrieving the stored invoice and receiving against the information provided by the vendor.
  • Receiver Scan: The receiving associate scans items received from the vendor and enters the quantity for each. When the invoice is completed, a printed copy showing the verified quantities and cost information can be requested via the RF hand held unit. The system stores an electronic copy of the invoice on the ISP for retrieval by the host.

Scan Data Collection

This module is designed to capture real-time product movement information and to preserve historical predictors, such as whether an item was on promotion or out-of-stock for any period of time. The availability of this detailed POS movement information can then be used for consignment invoicing, generation of EDI 852 movement records for vendor managed inventory programs, historical detailed reporting, sales forecasting, and lost sales estimates for out-of-stocks.

Transfers

CT2020 allows users to build detailed electronic transfer documents for both inventories arriving and departing the store. Outbound transfer can include other stores, a reclamation center, or a distribution center. Internal transfers are suited for transferring merchandise or supplies between departments.
