Genuardis.com Delivers Online Grocery Service To Philadelphia

No Driving, No Parking, No Waiting In Line Genuardis.com Offers Superior Customer Service, Selection, Innovative Online Tools and Prescription Refills

Philadelphi, PA - Safeway Inc. announced today the launch of Genuardis.com in the greater Philadelphia area, offering a high-quality online grocery delivery service. Identical service is widely available throughout the West Coast through Safeway.com and Vons.com where selection and customer satisfaction have developed a strong following of Internet grocery shoppers.

Genuardis.com has developed useful features to benefit busy Philadelphia-area residents, including exclusive delivery of prescription refills and same-day delivery for orders placed before 9:30 a.m., at no extra charge. In addition, the Express List tool allows customers to shop in less than 20 minutes. Customers type their shopping list into the virtual notepad and find all their items with one quick click. Nearly all items available in Genuardi's stores are available for purchase online at in-store prices, including Genuardi's Club Card specials.

"We have found that online grocery customers are busy people who want quality groceries delivered on time and at their convenience," said Mitch Rhodes, president of Genuardis.com. "The introduction of Genuardis.com to Philadelphia allows us to deliver the high level of service we're known for to the busy residents of Philadelphia."

The customer-friendly Website is designed to mirror the aisles in stores. Products are organized into various sections including frozen foods, dairy products, fresh produce, grocery and non-food items, making it easy for customers to locate and select items to buy. Customers can choose the brands they prefer and select fruit or vegetables to suit their own "ripeness" preferences. Orders are delivered daily between 10 a.m. and 9 p.m., within a two-hour time slot selected by the customer. Deliveries are made six days a week.

"Genuardis.com goes to great lengths to ensure that fresh, quality goods are delivered," said Lesa Musatto, senior vice president of marketing for Genuardis.com. "Every order is hand-picked by experienced "Personal Shoppers" from a nearby Genuardi's store."

Each order is carefully packaged and loaded into a temperature-controlled truck. Frozen goods are stored in a specially designed freezer compartment; produce and other perishables are placed into a separate refrigerated section and dry products are stored under ambient temperatures.

Once registered, Genuardi's Club Card members will be able to access their regular store purchases and new online purchases through a timesaving feature known as "Shopping History." Customers will automatically receive Club Card specials in addition to "online exclusive" offers.

First-time customers who type in the code "FREE" at checkout will receive free delivery on their first order. The cost of the service is $9.95 on orders $50 to $149 and $4.95 on orders over $150.
