Horizon Organic Cottage Cheese

The first cheese ever made in America, cottage cheese is still one of the most nutrient-dense dairy products you can find. Our old-fashioned cottage cheese starts with Horizon Organic fat free milk. Freshness-sealed in handy 16-oz. recyclable containers, Horizon Organic cottage cheese is certified kosher. Cottage cheese-making begins with the addition of cultures which form lactic acid (this also happens in the sour cream-making process) and coagulatethe protein, causing the curd to form. Whey separates out and is then drained off, after which the curd is mixed with the "dressing," comprised of cream and fat free milk. Lowfat cottage cheese is processed the same way as regular cottage cheese, but the dressing contains a lower milkfat content.
