IntelliVid Grows Base 50% In 2007: Further 75% Expansion Confirmed In Q1 2008, Use Of Video Intelligence Expanding To New Sectors

Cambridge, MA - IntelliVid, the leading provider of enterprise video intelligence software for retail loss prevention and store intelligence, recently announced that it grew its installed base by 50% in 2007 and that confirmed Q1 2008 installations will drive an additional 75% expansion by the end of March.

Driving the extraordinary demand for IntelliVid's Video Investigator software is the trend that retailers from grocery to drug stores to big box are increasingly seeking enterprise video intelligence solutions that not only contribute to significant reductions in shrink, but also help to improve their top-line performance through improved marketing, merchandising and store operations.

"We are excited that many of the country's largest and most well-respected retail chains are turning to IntelliVid for our video intelligence software," said Patrick Sobalvarro, president and CEO of IntelliVid. "We are seeing a significant transition from retailers using video intelligence for pure loss prevention purposes to a market where video intelligence informs strategic business decisions throughout the entire organization."

As a result, the company reports that retailers are changing their buying process for video intelligence software. Sobalvarro noted, "We now regularly see senior retail executives in marketing, merchandising and store operations getting actively in video intelligence software purchase decisions, because they see the potential revenue/margin gains that video intelligence can generate over and above the proven ROI obtained from loss prevention applications."

IntelliVid's software goes beyond the simple, single-camera, motion-based video analytics available with many DVRs or camera-based solutions, by using proprietary analytics to make sense of the chaos of activity common in retail environments.

"In addition to our continued strong growth in our core retail segment, we are excited that interested customers and partners are increasingly identifying powerful applications for our software in adjacent industries, such as banking and gaming," said Sobalvarro.

IntelliVid's 2007 Highlights

  • Expanded installed base by 50% over 2006, including installations at several of the retail top 100.
  • Added forensic and live POS options to the Video Investigator Loss Prevention Toolkit. These tools allow loss prevention teams to identify and investigate dishonest employees faster and more effectively, leading to 100+% improvements in cases closed.
  • Introduced Remote Access, enabling head-office and regional managers to obtain the benefits of in-store video intelligence from anywhere with an Internet connection.
  • Launched Video Investigator Specialty Edition, a competitively priced DVR-alternative that provides small-footprint retailers with the robust video intelligence functionality of the company's flagship Video Investigator product in an all-in-one, turn-key format.
  • Introduced the intelligent people counting, linger and store traffic flow tools that form the foundation of the company's fast-growing store intelligence offering.
  • Announced further expansion of its portfolio of video analytics patents, including issuing the patent on the company's camera adjacency algorithms used in its Computer Aided Tracking (CAT) and Store Traffic Flow tools.

Customers using IntelliVid's Video Investigator software reported achieving positive payback on their video intelligence investment in less than 12 months.

Looking Ahead in 2008
In addition to continued strong growth in customer installations through the remainder of 2008, IntelliVid expects to expand the store intelligence capabilities of the software, improving retailers' ability to integrate in-store video intelligence into their existing business intelligence reporting, and expanding the range of customer service and merchandising applications available. IntelliVid also expects to strengthen the industry-leading loss prevention capabilities of the system with enhancements designed to improve retailers' effectiveness in fighting organized retail crime.

Encouraged by strong customer interest and the support of key industry partners, IntelliVid anticipates undertaking a strategic expansion into several adjacent target markets, such as banking and gaming.
