REWE Delivery Service Expands

New delivery areas in Hagen, Heilbronn, Wolfsburg

REWE is expanding its delivery service area and is now supplying customers in Heilbronn, Hagen, and Wolfsburg with fresh groceries. REWE has been a pioneer in online grocery retailing since 2011 and has become the number one in Germany. The continuous expansion of its delivery areas is supported by 16 Food Fulfillment Centers (FFCs), which now serve over 90 cities. REWE is thus responding to the growing demand in online retail.

The REWE delivery service offers a wide range of products, including fresh groceries such as fruit, vegetables, dairy products, and meat, as well as frozen foods and reusable beverages. Customers can choose from a wide range of several thousand products, including organic products, plant-based alternatives, and REWE's own brands.

Heilbronn
In Heilbronn, a good 67,000 households have access to regional products such as fresh vegetables from the Kiemle nursery, organic produce from the Gruel organic farm, and meat products from the Setzer butcher shop. In Hagen, 61,000 households benefit from a wide range of regional products. These include organic eggs from the Sauerland region, organic cheese from Münster, and fresh stews and pasta with Gorgonzola, pear, or asparagus and ricotta from Düsseldorf. How the REWE delivery service works
At rewe.de/shop , customers enter their postal code and select "delivery service." In the next step, they select a suitable delivery time slot. Depending on availability, short (2 hours) and longer (4-6 hours) time slots are available for the desired delivery date. Customers can then customize their shopping cart. The minimum order value depends on the region and is usually €50. A major advantage is the affordable delivery. In addition to consistently low delivery fees, there is one free delivery day each week, on which delivery is free of charge.

16 REWE Food Fulfillment Centers in Germany
Online orders for the REWE delivery service are typically picked in specialized Food Fulfillment Centers (FFCs), where the products are picked in approximately six refrigerated zones and prepared for delivery. Currently, there are 16 FFCs operating in Germany, where picking takes place manually and semi-automatically. More than 3,300 employees across Germany contribute significantly to the success of the REWE delivery service.
