The Shortcut Your Grocery List's Been Waiting For
AI tools are everywhere. At Uber, we’re focused on building AI features that genuinely make everyday tasks easier for our users. That’s the thinking behind our newest addition to Uber Eats: Cart Assistant.
Say hello to Cart Assistant.
Today, we’re launching Cart Assistant in the Uber Eats app, a new AI-powered feature designed to help you build grocery baskets faster and with less effort. That means fewer taps and more time saved.
Users were telling us that they wanted a quicker way to shop, and we know how precious your time is. Cart Assistant helps you get from idea to checkout in seconds.
Here’s how it works:
- Search for your favorite grocery store on the Uber Eats home screen and tap the purple Cart Assistant icon on the storefront to start shopping.
- Type your list or add an image and the Cart Assistant will add what’s needed to your basket – a photo of a handwritten shopping list or a screenshot of recipe ingredients works just as well.
- Cart Assistant will automatically take availability into account and show store-level details like item prices and applicable promotions.
- You can then edit the basket however you choose, swapping out selections or adding additional items from the store.
This is the beta version of Cart Assistant, and an early step in how we’re solving practical problems with agentic AI on Uber Eats, focused on areas we can make the biggest difference.
Cart Assistant builds on your past orders to prioritize familiar items (like your go-to milk, or favorite oatmeal) to make the experience faster and more personalized.
That’s how we think about AI at Uber: starting with real customer needs and building practical solutions within the app. We’re excited to learn from how people use Cart Assistant and continue improving the experience over time. Happy shopping!
