Waitrose Introduces Subscription Passes For Online Customers

  • Offers customers up to £123¹ in savings per year
  • One, six and 12 month ‘Waitrose Delivery Passes’ available
  • Includes early access to sought after Christmas delivery slots²

Following a successful trial Waitrose is rolling out a subscription service for deliveries of grocery orders purchased from Waitrose.com or via the app.

The new ‘Waitrose Delivery Pass’ gives customers, with an online grocery account, the option to pay upfront for their chosen subscription period of one month, six month, or 12-months and book up to one available grocery delivery slot per day at no additional delivery cost.

An individual delivery booked without a pass costs between £2 and £4 depending upon the type of slot. A one month pass will cost £8, a six month pass will cost £45, and an annual pass will cost £85. Waitrose estimates that the annual pass will save a customer booking one £4 delivery per week up to £123 per year.

The pass will also give customers early access to sought after Waitrose Christmas delivery slots² which go live in September.

Laura Burbedge, Director of Waitrose Online said; “We’re investing in our online business to continuously improve it, giving our customers even greater value and the best possible experience. Thousands of customers signed up for Delivery Passes through our trial, so we expect to see strong demand across the UK as we roll it out.”

In another move to give online customers greater value, last month, Waitrose started giving offers to loyalty customers who order via Uber Eats when they link their My Waitrose account to their Uber Eats account.

Last financial year Waitrose sales grew 4.4% to £8.0bn and volumes were up 2.6% as the supermarket attracted more customers.

¹Savings made by a customer who purchases an annual pass and books one delivery per week worth £4.

² To be eligible for early access customers must have an active delivery pass bought before 1 September in the same year.
